Big brother site

This site is the little sister site.
The other Carrom site I write for is much busier than this one.
If you are planning a trip to Europe or the States or Asia or Australia,
you can probably find a game of Carrom easier than finding a game to play in Britain.
Sad, isn’t it?
I can’t understand it.
Most people who try the game end up loving it.
There are darts competitions, snooker finals, even sumo wrestling on the telly now.
All I want is a room somewhere, where we can hold Carrom nights.
I know once all the hard work is done, people will be carroming all over the place to help.
We need players and people now. We want to promote it across Britain.
Please. Help. Any way.

Carrom players in Croydon

What do Carrom, Koi fish, Folk music, the Blues, budgies, a kids’ playgroup and Irish dancing have in common?irish.jpg
That’s just some of the activities you can take part in, at Ruskin House.

Carrom is played every month at Ruskin House in Croydon. As soon as I have any more information I shall let you know. Or if you live nearby, or not, drop in.

If anyone out there knows anything about the `Carrom League` of Croydon we’d be really interested.

UK carrom players

Come out, come out wherever you are.
Where are you?
We want to start a club in South London.
Any takers?

Hold the last page

Yesterday I felt a bit daunted and wondered if I had bitten off more than I can chew.

I am also fairly new to the internet and I have only recently started helping on the site.
However while looking through a load of emails I came across correspondence between my friends here and this man.
Have a look at his site.
It’s really interesting and well laid out.
There is load of information on it and we both want to promote Carrom across the UK.
Not enough people know about the game yet.
As I said yesterday it is very popular in Europe but we must be able to compete with them.
Why should they have all the fun?
Isn’t it enough they have more sunshine, cheaper everything, (nearly) better wine and are mostly bi-lingual?
We should try and have the best Carrom clubs.
We have the best football teams, don’t we?
And snooker players?
And darts?
And rugby?
Well, maybe not. But you know what I mean.

So, if there is any one else with any Carrom info., stories, pictures, videos etc please send it into us.
Also please tell any of your friends and family who are interested about us.

Don’t forget to check out UKCA.

Thanks.

Carrom clubs

Carrom Clubs

I have contacted a few people I found on the internet where it said they run Carrom clubs in the UK.
Unfortunately they have stopped doing them for various reasons.
It’s dispiriting but I won’t be discouraged.
I will continue searching and if you know of any clubs in the UK please send us details.
Just a name and a number, or an address will do.
In the meantime for those of you living in London I hope this helps.Just click on the red links.
However there are lots of clubs in Europe and around the world.
So if they can do it, so can we.

Thanks.

Carrom Xenzia

Stop that racket.

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and blaming the quality of the recording.

The band is called Carrom Xenzia.

I don’t know anything about them, so if anyone out there does, tell us what you can.

Photos would be nice. Why did you pick the name?

I hope they can play the game better than they can sing.

It’s like most things in life, boys, to be any good you have to practice.

So remember us when you become rich and famous.

Keep it up. You have to start somewhere and good luck.

If you become the next big thing, don’t change your name.

New motto; Carrom is cool.

Lazy Sunday afternoon or morning

The Christmas rush is over. The days are getting longer.

For any Carrom lovers living in London, now is a good time to take a trip down to the Carrom Cafe Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane,London E1 6QL

There between 10am and 5pm any Sunday you can play as long as you like for free.

They also sell delicious snacks and drinks, (non-alcoholic) but there is no need to buy anything.

The nearest underground stations : Aldgate East/Old St./Liverpool St.
Carrom Cafe is here.

When you do get here there are loads of other things to see and do in the area, so if you can’t persuade your partner to stay and play Carrom, let them wander around for a bit while you have a game.

Or come by yourself.

You’ll meet other players, expert and beginners and who knows, maybe start a Carrom club of your own.

Do you recognise these men?

The two pictures underneath were taken at Glastonbury in 2005.
The sun shines on the righteous.

And the unrighteous!? It’s a great place to play Carrom despite the weather.

Who are these young Carrom players?

This picture was taken last year at the Asian Lifestyle Exhibition Kensington London.wwwcarromassociationevent01.JPG
Do you recognise anyone in the photo? If so, tell us, and them too.

If you were at the show last year and have any photos of the Carrom stand we’d love to see them.

We’ll post them here for you

You can also see more photos of the show here
.

Thanks.

2007

This year we hope to see Carrom played in more clubs, pubs, community halls and youth clubs in the uk.

We know it is becoming much more popular, and expect this to grow as more people get to know the game.

It is a family game and I know many people who play at home with friends and relatives.

However after one game people who had never before played become enthusiasts.

We would like to encourage them and others to play so…….

If you know of any club we can include here, please pass on the details.

You may want to join a local club and we will help you find one.

If there is no local club maybe you’d like to start your own but are unsure how to do it.

Get in touch and we’ll help as much as we can.

Any news, information, advice or comments are appreciated.
