St.George’s Day never used to be a big deal in the U.K.
However that is all changing. Any excuse for another holiday. He’s the patron saint of England.
St. Patrick’s Day on 17th March, is for the Irish and any one else who wants to join in.
St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland and there’s a town named after him, well known for it’s golf, university and Prince William, who attended the university until recently. His day is celebrated by Scots on 30th November.
St. David is the patron saint of Wales and his day is 1st March.
This has nothing to do with Carrom except if we did start to celebrate these days think how many more Carrom Competitions we could have.
We could have Carrom champions and teams from all four countries.
Just remember rugby wasn’t so popular a few years ago, now look at it.
Tennis is too expensive for a lot of people, as is golf.
Good thing about Carrom, it can be played by men, women and children of all ages, and abilities.
However it can also be highly competitive and the top players are very skilled and use all sorts of tactics.
Maybe British men think it’s not exciting enough. Darts, dominoes, golf, bowls, cricket! Need I say more?
So all you women out there, I think it’s time to give the bingo a miss and start organising a few Carrom clubs.
